The coating process is the application of a substance at the desired surface to modify the surface properties, such as color, gloss, resistance to wear or chemical susceptibility. It can change permeability or wettability, without interferring the bulk properties of substrates.
Surface coatings comprise wide variety of materials, such as paints, varnishes, enamels, oils, greases, waxes, but also concrete, powder coatings, metal or metal oxide coatings, and fire-retardant formulations.
Coatings may also have very specific functions such as photoactivity or bactericidal properties.
In our laboratories we develop methodologies of coating processes and study the properties of new coating (nano)materials to obtain specific functionalities. We have broad expertise in different techniques of coating, such as dip coating or spin coating. Our main focus is to develop coatings with high photoactivity. In our work we use both chemical methods or plasma treatment to activate the surface for gaining a permanent effect.
We are ready to share with you our broad experience to create coatings and to characterize them (see: electron microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, contact angle measurements and our other services) at desired surfaces: metals, polymers, concrete, glass, surfaces in the form of nets or fabrics or even paper surfaces.
